Announced as the Oesterreichischer Hof, the Hotel Sacher Salzburg was opened on 4th June 1866 by its owner and hotelier Karl Irresberger. Its wonderful location near the Salzach River was only one of the reasons why the Hotel soon achieved worldwide renown.
Luxurious facilities, tradition and atmosphere as well as the magnificent view of the festival city are the reasons why members of reigning families, aristocrats and members of the high clergy as well as artists were and still are guests of the Hotel.

In 1988 the Guertler family bought the Hotel and the Oesterreichischer Hof became a sister of the Hotel Sacher Wien.
After an overall improvement of the entire Hotel complex, the Hotel now have 116 rooms and suites. They are decorated with original paintings, antiques, precious rugs and silk wallpaper. As comfort has always been one of the Hotels highest priorities, the rooms have been sumptuously furnished and at the same time provided with all modern amenities such as air condition and Internet access.
With the expandation of the banqueting facilities large social events can be hold up to 300 people.

So that guests can attend to business without having to forgo their usual office equipment, a special Business Room has been arranged with standard facilities such as computers with Internet access, telephone, a fax machine, and a photocopier.

In 1998 a health club was opened with modern fitness and bodybuilding equipment, sauna and steam bath which can be used free of charge for hotel guests. A broad range of different massages and the use of the solarium can be booked via the concierge.

The Hotel was renamed into Hotel Sacher Salzburg on 01st January 2000.

All 116 rooms and suites, some have recently been renovated, and are furnished in a highly individual fashion and state-of-the-art equipment is a standard feature. Each room and suite has been decorated personally by Mrs. Elisabeth Guertler, Owner, with great love of detail.

The view of the silhouette of the Old Town and the Fortress of Hohensalzburg is truely unique.

Take Innsbrucker Bundesstraße and follow signs to city centre – turn left into Rudolf-Biebl-Straße - after 1 km turn right into Ignaz-Harrer-Straße and proceeded onto this street – cross the bridge over the river Salzach – turn right at the traffic lights into Schwarzstraße – follow Schwarzstrasse for about 1 km and you will find the Hotel Sacher Salzburg on your right.

Motorway exit “Salzburg Süd”:
Towards Anif, City centre Salzburg, carry on straight as indicated by the Zentrum signs - via Alpenstraße into Hellbrunnerstraße – turn right and cross “Nonntaler Brücke” – turn left after the bridge into Imbergstraße – carry on straight into Schwarzstraße, the Hotel is on the left side after Staatsbrücke, turn right into Makartplatz at the traffic lights – drive around the square to change into the opposite direction and drive directly up to the Hotel.

Motorway exit “ Salzburg Mitte”:
Coming from all other directions the Motorway exit „Mitte“ is the fastest way to the Hotel. Follow Münchner Bundesstrasse that leads into Ignaz-Harrer-Strasse and proceed about 3 km until you cross the bridge over the river Salzach – turn right at the traffic lights into Schwarzstrasse – follow Schwarzstrasse for about 1 km and you will find the Hotel Sacher Salzburg on your right.
